As a relationally oriented clinical psychologist with over a decade of experience in therapy and assessments, I strive to deliver high-quality care using an evidence-based and culturally sensitive framework. I offer a warm, compassionate, and supportive environment. As an Asian American woman and first-generation immigrant, I know how important it is to honor the intersectionalities of our identities. In my clinical work, I help individuals explore and strengthen their sense of self so that they become their own agent of change in finding solutions to their problems and enhancing meaning in their lives.

Professionally, I have worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds and identities across a range of clinical presentations, including adolescents, adults, and families dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, OCD, acculturation and immigration issues, academic and career stress, Asian + American mental health, and women’s mental health issues. I also provide affirming mental health care to the BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities. Inspired by my own personal experiences, I am passionate about empowering women and new parents in finding their inner source of resilience and self-compassion as they embark in different seasons of life.

My therapeutic approach integrates a strengths-based model using empirically supported treatment, including acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapies, multiculturalism, and solution-focused therapy. The foundation of these approaches is to teach individuals skills to enhance their ability to notice and make room for thoughts and feelings, especially those difficult ones, and choose to take effective action towards important life goals and align with personal values.

It would be an honor to have the opportunity to build a healing, non-judgmental, and nurturing space with you and to support you in fostering a more joyful, attuned, and intentional way to live life. The motto I often reference is to live happy, healthy, and well in whatever ways that are meaningful to you!

Feeling overwhelmed, out of control, stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, or unsure how to navigate through youth or family emotional, behavioral, or health challenges? I’m glad you landed here! You don’t need to move through this on your own. I work with children, teens, young adults, and parents to better understand what’s happening beneath the surface in order to create meaningful, sustainable change.

With over 2 decades of experience as a licensed psychologist, my approach is collaborative, practical, and grounded in evidence-based, wholistic care. I draw from evidence-based therapies like CBT and mind-body integrative approaches to help you build effective tools into your daily life and tap into your internal strengths. For OCD, I use Exposure Response Prevention (ERP). I am a trauma-focused provider, using approaches like Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and Attachment-Based Family Therapy (ABFT). I also support youth and young adults navigating medical & health-related challenges through an integrated understanding of mental and physical wellness.

I support clients across a range of concerns, helping individuals and families feel more regulated, connected, and empowered. This includes anxiety, stress, mood concerns, health-related anxiety, psychosomatic symptoms, and medical challenges, with a focus on reducing distress, improving functioning, and understanding the mind-body connection.

Another area of my expertise is neurodivergence (e.g., ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Learning Differences). I help individuals and families understand strengths, navigate challenges, and build effective strategies. I also provide parenting support, helping parents navigate emotional & behavioral challenges, strengthen relationships, and feel more confident. I help with trauma & emotional regulation by supporting you in processing past experiences and building skills to manage intense thoughts & emotions.

I primarily work with children (8+), adolescents, young adults, and parents navigating complex developmental, emotional, or behavioral needs, including anxiety, OCD, trauma, neurodivergence, depression, and mental and medical health complexities.

I welcome clients from all backgrounds and strive to provide an inclusive, affirming space for individuals of all identities, including LGBTQ+ clients and those shaped by cultural, racial, or systemic factors.

As both a clinical psychologist and a parent/partner/sibling/daughter, I understand how complex and demanding life can feel. I strive to create a space that is affirming, inclusive, compassionate, and psychologically safe. Together, we’ll identify what matters most to you and take thoughtful, achievable steps toward lasting growth.

I am Marie-Gabrielle Reed, Ph.D., a Licensed Psychologist in the State of Minnesota (soon expanding my ability to practice in other states). After several years working as a social worker in France, I obtained a dual-specialty Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology and Clinical Psychology from the University of Minnesota. I have a decade of academic research experience on stress, adversity, and resilience, three decades of clinical experience, and over one decade serving as a psychological expert for various courts. I have practiced in clinics, hospitals, and private practice, providing diagnostic assessments, psychotherapy, and psychological evaluations for children, parents, and adults. I have supported people from all walks of life and cultural backgrounds with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, chronic health problems, behavioral challenges, neurodevelopmental differences such as autism and ADHD, school and developmental struggles, relationship challenges, minority stress, and more.

As a developmental psychologist, I keep in mind the developmental trajectories of both adults and children. By looking into the past and the present for sources of pain and resilience, we work together to free you from what has held you back, and propel you forward as your healthier self. My work includes supporting expecting and new parents, helping them navigate the earliest stages of their child’s life. I offer psychodynamic play therapy to preverbal and preschool children, including those struggling with trauma and attachment wounds, as symbolic play often provides profound corrective experiences. I also love working with school-age children, teenagers, and adults, whether they are challenged by, for instance, stress, chronic pain, depressive symptoms, generalized anxiety, phobias, OCD, school transitions, underachievement, divorce or family changes, low self-esteem, identity challenges, psychosis, or PTSD/C-PTSD. I can diagnose, treat, and be your partner in building resilience.

Life is about living, not coping, not managing symptoms. That is my mission: to help people I work with get unstuck so they can live life again. As a psychology superfan, I am excited about teaching individuals about psychology, the science, and how that science can help you live more fully. I work to tailor effective psychology treatments to each person’s unique needs and situations. With intentional listening, I work to incorporate psychology, education, and skills into each conversation, drawing from your interests, hobbies, and values. I especially love working with people who have complex health concerns and those individuals who have felt dismissed, judged, or “gaslit” by other (usually) well intentioned medical specialists.

In my work in Pediatric Psychology and Health Psychology, I teach individuals, kids and adults, who have health concerns how to retrain their nervous system to feel better. I help people sleep more soundly by creating customized sleep routines and meditation recordings. Focusing on values and ways to be in this moment, I can help you feel less stressed and more present in the day to day. Our brains try really hard to keep us safe, and sometimes they overreact, causing anxiety. I connect education about why anxiety happens with humor to help you feel better, and more calm.

I welcome clients of all backgrounds and especially enjoy working with those managing complex health needs, chronic symptoms, or feeling unheard in medical settings. Whether in person or over telehealth, I look forward to helping you reclaim a fuller, calmer, more meaningful life.
