Do you wish you could find the support you need to overcome your difficulties and live up to your full potential? Do you wish that for your child? Do you want to be the parent who provides that support? Do you wish your family could offer a healthier and more nurturing environment for each person’s growth and happiness?
I am Marie-Gabrielle Reed, Ph.D., a Licensed Psychologist in the State of Minnesota (soon expanding my ability to practice in other states). After several years working as a social worker in France, I obtained a dual-specialty Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology and Clinical Psychology from the University of Minnesota. I have a decade of academic research experience on stress, adversity, and resilience, three decades of clinical experience, and over one decade serving as a psychological expert for various courts. I have practiced in clinics, hospitals, and private practice, providing diagnostic assessments, psychotherapy, and psychological evaluations for children, parents, and adults. I have supported people from all walks of life and cultural backgrounds with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, chronic health problems, behavioral challenges, neurodevelopmental differences such as autism and ADHD, school and developmental struggles, relationship challenges, minority stress, and more.
As a developmental psychologist, I keep in mind the developmental trajectories of both adults and children. By looking into the past and the present for sources of pain and resilience, we work together to free you from what has held you back, and propel you forward as your healthier self. My work includes supporting expecting and new parents, helping them navigate the earliest stages of their child’s life. I offer psychodynamic play therapy to preverbal and preschool children, including those struggling with trauma and attachment wounds, as symbolic play often provides profound corrective experiences. I also love working with school-age children, teenagers, and adults, whether they are challenged by, for instance, stress, chronic pain, depressive symptoms, generalized anxiety, phobias, OCD, school transitions, underachievement, divorce or family changes, low self-esteem, identity challenges, psychosis, or PTSD/C-PTSD. I can diagnose, treat, and be your partner in building resilience.
My approach to therapy is to understand you as a whole person and collaborate on finding and implementing effective solutions tailored to your needs. I draw from behavioral, cognitive, psychodynamic, mind-body, and systemic approaches, integrating these methods based on your history, preferences, and goals.
